Self-described as a rambling southern soul, Cate Colvin Sampson is a historic process and documentary photographer based in New Orleans, Louisiana.
Katie is hilarious and I think her sense of humor comes through in a many of her images. I always admired the great Elliott Erwitt for adding levity in his street photography. I think comedy in all forms is difficult, especially in a single image.
Here are some recent travels within the United States. Would love to have some people inside the country participate! Over the next few months our project will travel to Brazil, and Portugal. Those are two countries I’ve never visited – I am jealous of our little traveling camera.
Lynne Hobaica & Rickie Barnett are amazing artists who work primarily in clay. (Their pottery is amazing. You should look them up.) Lynne and Rickie wanted to work together during their time with the camera documenting their move from Seattle through Arizona and across to North Carolina where they settled and have a new studio. I gave them two rolls of film and one camera, and what they came up with is awesome. Look at the masks they made!!!
